Spring Cleaning Hacks

You know you’re officially an adult when you get excited about cleaning and dream of buying products to make life easier around the house. So we have picked out some hot tips you can apply to your annual Spring Clean, and for every week in between, as well as must-have products so you can get back to what’s really important, relaxing.

It’s time to become best friends with lemon water! Remove water stains by rubbing half a lemon over the marks for sparkling clean faucets. The citric acid helps remove hard water marks, fast.

Then, use the other half of the lemon to clean your microwave, because we’re guessing it needs it. Simply squeeze the juice into ½ cup of water and drop the rinds into the mixture. Microwave for three minutes and let it stand for five minutes without opening the door. The trapped steam will loosen the grime, so you can wipe the microwave clean with less elbow grease.

If you’re overdue for some much-needed cleaning and laundry supplies, we bet whatever is on your list, Briscoes has it. They also stock the incredible ecostore range, including the Hand Wash Mint & Manuka Honey. It’s mild plant-based formulation includes hydrating harakeke (New Zealand flax), to create a soft lather that will gently cleanse, nourish and condition your skin without stripping natural oils.

Sit back, and let Godfrey’s Ecovacs Robot Vacuum do all the work for you. Once you’ve clocked off from work for the week, the only thing you should be stressing about is what movie to watch on Netflix is, not dealing with vacuuming the floor. Trust us, you’ll have no regrets about this investment. You can thank us later!

How to Make Cleaning Fun With Your Kids

The Colour Game

Tell your kids to look for everything white. Pick it up and put it away and then report back. Then do the same for everything green and so on. Great for kids learning their colours, it gives them a sense of achievement for getting it correct. You can even reward them with something in that colour, whether a sticker or a snack, like popcorn or guacamole and corn chips.

Beat The Clock

Set a time limit for the room they are cleaning. Reward them if they finish before the timer goes off. Reward them with media time, perhaps they can watch one 30 minute episode of their favourite show, or their favourite dish will be cooked for dinner.

Sort It Out

An easy and fun way to sort through your kid’s stuff. Tell your kids to pick up everything you wear on your body. Next, anything you can eat with. Then, anything you can play with. It’s like a scavenger hunt!
